Welcome to my strange little corner of Substack. I’m Harlo, a queer and feral writer who is very into witches, vampires, demons, and the kinds of stories that bite back, but in a good way.

This space will be a mix of things: part fantasy fiction, part personal reflection, part “what the hell is going on with my brain today?” It’s for those of us who grew up feeling like the weird kid, who still talk to their cat, and who find comfort in stories that are as dark as they are tender.

What I write tends to be queer, often romantic, frequently smutty, and sometimes safe for work. You’ll meet characters who fall in love while covered in blood (sometimes theirs, sometimes someone else’s), and who kiss like it might be the last thing they ever do. Because in my worlds, sometimes it is.

I’m not here to sell you a perfect life. I’m here to talk about writing, identity, mental health, and whatever else slips through the cracks. Sometimes I’ll share story snippets. Sometimes I’ll journal out loud. Sometimes I’ll draw you a picture.
